I know I have been promising part “C” in my alphabet mix series for ages so here is a stop-gap mixtape to make up for its prolonged arrival. It will be worth it I guarantee. Anyway, I got asked to make a mix for that Nike RED charity thing and ended up with way too many songs so here is what could have been. The theme was pretty simple. The song titles just had to contain the word “run” as the charity thing is some kind of fun run. See what I did there? Searching through my iTunes resulted in the below. I was pretty in to the tracklisting so thought I’d share it with you. Until next time...”

THELONIUS MONK QUARTET - MISTERIOSO
I got this from an angry German at a boot sale. He was one of those annoying people who refuse to order their records for sale, he said he “didn’t believe in it”, which translates as not believing in being helpful or wanting to sell you records, wherein we may find the source of his anger. But, if you don’t want to sell your records, I would suggest you don’t take them to a boot sale.
Anyway - I don’t have the record to hand, but I am pretty sure the cover is a Giorgio de Chirico painting, I only know this because I based my exceeding ugly A-Level art final piece on his work. I really shouldn’t have taken art A-Level, as all I wanted to draw was aeroplanes, but never mind. It worked out pretty OK.

“A short film I made entitled Rye Fawkes is being premiered in the show Permanent Vacation at Show Cave Gallery in L.A. on the 12th June 2010, if you’re around go check it out. It’s Ghooulish!”
PERMANENT VACATION “Forever is Just Around the Corner”
New videos by Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Eric Wareheim, Douglas J. McCarthy,
Eric Nordhauser, Hazel Hill McCarthy III, Darwin Serwink, Abdi Taslimi, Richard Bott,
Ian Alexander Scott, Lewis Wright and more…
The concept of vacation can conjour up feelings of escapism or a total disregard of the mundane.
Vacation is a chance to “let your hair down” and to enter a contrived oblivion of excess. But what if
what was meant to be temporary continues forever? PERMANENT VACATION supposes the effects
of a never-ending story.
Curated by Hazel Hill for Show Cave’s ongoing video series, artist are asked to create a short video
that approaches this topic of PERMANENT VACATION. Screening of these video will be June 12, 2010.
As part of The “Tied Together” project we are taking over the whole of The City Arts Music Project in support of The Nike (RED) charity, supplying antiretroviral medicine to AIDS sufferers in Africa. A great cause. All donations on the night will go to the charity.
