This is one of the stacks of amazing compilations that Honest Jon’s churn out. And I had it for a while before I actually started really looking at the photographs in the liner notes. I was looking of old photographs of London for work, and I noted down one of the photographer’s names, Val Wilmer.
The next day I went on the internet and had a google about, and found that she had no contacts or website listed. I kind of forgot about it and carried on with other stuff, until about a month later when my friend Alex Sturrock was looking through my note book and got all : “Oi, why you got Val’s name in your book?” and it turned out he used to live next door to her and his mum was friends with her. So he got me her phone number and that led to this which led to me getting to know Val pretty well, which led to her making me this print of Son House:
So the record led to me meeting an amazing woman and doing some of the most enjoyable ‘work’ I have ever done. And on top of that all the music on it is brilliant. Especially “Calypso Blues” by Mona Baptiste.
KING BB
Today I am hung over. Not the fun sort of hangover where you can roll around in your filth and sweat in your sticky boxers. I am cruising the depressing, at work, occasional waves of nausea and sweaty brow hangover. Good times. The The make it OK. Just. This Is The Day is one of them ost wonderful songs in the world. Here it is, you might want to bookmark this for next time you are gagging off beer farts in a clammy office…

GOOD BAD NOT EVIL - BLACKLIPS
My friend Jiro made this album cover. Even though I generally find it hard to be objective, I do think I would like it even if it was made by a stranger. In fact I like it in spite of the fact that he fucks me sideways at squash every week.
You can see more of Jiro’s work at his website here: www.jirobevis.co.uk. He did some work on thier singles too:
