“About a month ago myself and a few others took a trip to Bluewater carpark to meet up with some guys that are REALLY into doing up there cars. This is a subculture that is in no ways unique to England but funnily enough if you live in London you probably wouldn’t have had much interaction with. These people tend to be potrayed as menaces and louts but, on the whole, we found a carpark full of men in there 30s that most probably have a half decent star trek figurine collection tucked away in there bedrooms. The cars were a combination of shocking and just plain crap but as the saying goes you may not be able to polish a turd but you can still roll it in glitter.”

DoBeDo has teamed up with GETME! To put on a monthly filmnight and party at Notting Hill Arts Club.
In the early ‘80s renowned photographer Mark Lebon launched ‘Reely’, a long-running and influential London film night and club. This year DoBeDo and GETME! resurrect the night as ‘Reely and Truly’.
Each month ‘Reely and Truly’ will open with an hour of short films curated by DoBeDo – featuring the work of both young filmmakers and some of the original ‘Reely’ contributors. Alongside this, two photographers are invited each month to shoot and premier an exclusive slide show that will play as the visual accompaniment to GETME! DJs and monthly special guests.
THIS MONTH... Photo slideshows by Jack Day and Bangkok-based Chardchakaj Waikawee.
Films by Tyrone Lebon, Phoebe Collings-James, Mark Lebon, Dick Jewell, and many more. Films screened at 8 - 9pm.
Address: Notting Hill Arts Club, 19-21 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3JQ.

DoBeDo presents ‘Know Your Place’, the first in a series of group shows uniting a new generation of emerging artists. The exhibition will encompass a variety of media such as photography, installation and painting.
To ‘know one’s place’ is an expression that can be traced back to the Middle Ages, which implies to behave suitably for ones position, rank, or status. Although roles in social hierarchies may have been eroded over time, the implications of authority remain dominant. Striving to challenge preconceived values and counteracting these roles is an underlying current throughout the works in the exhibition.
