STREET BULLIES RIDDIM

Yesterday somebody tried to beat me up on the train. Well, more accurately they tried to drag me off the train for the fight. The odd thing was that my biggest concern was the inconvenience of it all. I’d already had to wait 5 minutes for the train and if said man had succeeded in dragging me off I would have had to wait another 18 minutes for the next. This is not to say there wasn’t an underwriting feeling of dread; my assailant was odds-on to win the fight as he was far bigger than me and a lot more up for it. My only advantage was my sobriety as he seemed to have gone far past the point where the alcohol in his system would have be an advantage in battle. The attempted assault came at a terrible time - though I was hooded up and looked the part of a street warrior I was in no mood whatsoever. I had earlier been left by my date to watch the last hour of live music solo and although I was trying to convince myself I was not upset, my eyes felt hot and I recognised the heat as the kind that comes just before you begin to shed unwanted tears. I felt 2 feet tall and my foe seemed enormous. It was as if I wasn’t there as he swore and tried to antagonise me and I went limp as he grabbed me. I felt pathetic and never so unintimidating in my life. All in all I felt a victim.
