NICK JENSEN : TWELVE AROUND ONE.

GETME!’s Nick Jensen, presents his latest exhibition at his Twelve Around One gallery.

With this exhibition , Twelve Around One has identified twelve artists whose practices intelligently overlap around two key points. One group could be said to relate to the ‘form of content’, whose work often comprise glass, perspex and paper, and whose form is dictated by the intended communication of or comment on certain information contained within the piece.

The second group who use fabricated elements, which take the form and language of commercial institutions and their spaces, such as Sam Griffin; or Clunie Reid, whose work invokes the language of digital media and consumerism in order to set a tone and create a cradle for interventions which then comment on these spaces.

The aim is to extract subtle differences extending away from what is common to the all of works. To draw on the material similarities and to use these to point to differing intentions and outcomes of the various artworks.
In common with the method of composing Verlan, whose words retain their pronunciation; the artists in this exhibition subject their material choices in their artworks to their outcome, as social comment. The success of their outcomes point, through an altered order of things, back to the objects and their nature in our everday encounter.
