“In the town of Rye, an old smuggling village on the south coast of England, Rye Fawkes is a meeting of dressed and masked members of the local bonfire club commemorating the attempt of Guy Fawkes to blow up Parliament. In the early 19th century it was a night of terror, roaming hoards carrying burning torches descended upon the streets in an anarchic rampage.”
